Arnold Schwarzenegger accepts patronage of Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017
On Friday (April, 29th) Special Olympics President Hermann Kröll received a surprising but most welcome visitor in his hometown Schladming: at noon his cell phone rang – and Arnold Schwarzenegger was at the other end. During a stopover in Munich on his way from Kuwait to meet his friend and fellow actor Ralf Möller the former Governor of California spontaneously decided to drive to Schladming with Möller and his girlfriend to pay a secret visit to his long-standing friend Hermann Kröll who, naturally, was very pleased about his surprise visitor: “Above all, he wanted to know about my state of health, but of course we also discussed some important aspects regarding the upcoming World Winter Games.”
During apple strudel and coffee the “Styrian Oak“ agreed to take on the patronage of the 2017 edition of the Special Olympics World Winter Games which will take place in Graz, Schladming and Ramsau. It goes without saying that Schwarzenegger will try to come to Austria to watch next year’s big sport event on site. “The Games are very important to him. He promised us full support to help us organize the best World Winter Games of all times. And I am convinced that we will succeed in our efforts“, explains Kröll.
Schwarzenegger is also supposed to support a very important appointment at the end of June/early July with his presence, when Kröll and representatives of the Austrian Special Olympics movement will have the opportunity to present the World Winter Games 2017 to the European Parliament in Brussels with the aim of receiving subsidies for the big international event. “Of course, we hope that Arnold will be able to join us for the presentation to emphasize our cause“, says Kröll.
